Ask Your Dad: Intergenerational Debugging & Translation

A four-week course inspired by AskLagaffe.com, helping kids, parents, and found family treat conflicts as bugs in communication, not proof of evil.

Week 1 – Two Operating Systems

  • Draw “Kid OS” vs “Adult OS”: different fears, hopes, and upgrade paths.
  • Map where they crash into each other most.

Week 2 – Debugging Fights

  • Rewrite a real argument as logs: time, event, feeling, misread variable.
  • Look for patterns instead of blame.

Week 3 – Protocols, Not Scripts

  • Create conversation protocols for hard topics instead of fixed lines.
  • EN/NL: protocol/protocol, timeout/time-out.

Week 4 – Family API

  • Document how to “call” each person safely: what they like, hate, need.
  • Treat it as a living spec that can change over time.
